#walk1000miles – June 2017

Reviewing my mileage for the month that was June 2017, with a running total of my current standing for the year, in a personal quest to #walk1000miles.

I’m sure a lot of people are already saying this but, here we are; having already completed the full first-half of 2017!

For me personally, it’s a been another good month on the mileage front.

Only yesterday, I returned home from a weekend of camping and walking in North Dorset. I’ll have an overview update post on that soon- already, I’ve managed to cram a few miles in to the first few days of July. I feel very good about beating the one-thousand mark, this year.

02/06 – 3.25 miles – Wrington, North Somerset
03/06 – 2.5 miles – Wrington
04/06 – 30 miles – Mendip Challenge
10/06 – 3.75 miles – Wrington
11/06 – 10.5 miles – Bredon Hill (walk leading)
14/06 – 3.25 miles – Wrington
17/06 – 17 miles – White Horse Trail – Walk #3
19/06 – 15 miles – Pode Mendip Challenge
20/06 – 1.5 miles – Congresbury, North Somerset
21/06 – 4 miles – Black Down, ‘Mendip Solstice’
25/06 – 12 miles – Quantock Hills (led by Brunel)
30/06 – 0.75 miles – Win Green, Dorset

Plus 4 miles of evening walks.

Total for June 2017 = 107.5 miles

Similarly to May; a good number of walks have taken place within the village I live in. I’m still venturing a little further afield at the weekends but my two-mile evening walks have continued to decline in frequency. Partly because I don’t enjoy road walking, especially where both roads in question are in greater demand by drivers, as Wrington Road remains closed for another fortnight to complete a ten-week long saga of waterworks.

In June 2016, I fell just short of the one-hundred, completing no more than ninety-miles under foot. While my running tally for 2016 at this point was still some way below halfway toward the thousand.

I’m confident that July can become another ‘Hundred-Mile Month‘. I’ve a long walk planned for this coming Sunday and I still need to catch up with Walk #4 in the White Horse Trail series… I find it surprising to think that our final is due for early August and will ensure our completion of the ninety-mile long trail.

…And I’ve still yet to walk The Ridgeway! Hopefully in September.

I do, again, realise that I’m falling far behind with my blogging… I believe it’s been a long while since I created more than two posts within a standard week. I aim to improve upon that. Three posts per week would be ideal. Rest assured though, I’m not wasting my spare time watching reality TV rubbish!

I don’t have any (hiking-themed) trips away planned for July although, I will be elsewhere for a few days at the end of the month and may need to stack up my mileage in preparation for the absence.

If you’re also participating in your own #walk1000miles challenge, I hope you’re progressing equally as well as I am, if not even better.

Thanks for reading.

Current total for 2017 = 536.5 miles
