After a month in which I was honest and stayed very close to home and walking only from my own doorstep; I decided to give myself a day off. But, instead of sitting at home, watching Netflix and taking it easy; what I had in mind was to drive for precisely five miles (across Weston-super-Mare; the town I live in) and follow a fresh route for a local walk…

Doorstep Walk: Weston Woods

Another walk from my doorstep in Weston-super-Mare. Across the town of Worle, up to the woods on Worlebury Hill and then down towards the sad state of Birnbeck Pier.

I was feeling as though I’d exhausted my local jaunts out to Sand Bay and Sand Point. I was craving a change but, driving somewhere was still out of the question. I’d climbed and descending the Monk’s Steps but hadn’t, before this day, walked in to Weston Woods.

Doorstep Walk: Sand Bay and Sand Point

Overnight, snow had fallen locally and in other parts of the UK that had not already been blanketed. Or so I read online.

My plans for the day didn’t change. I would walk out to Sand Point from home, once again. This time, I’d head clockwise around and take in Sand Bay before it could come close to getting busy again.

For my second Doorstep Walk in Lockdown 3.0, it was going to be hard for me to not tread on familiar ground from the previous weekend’s walk. I had thoughts about heading up to Weston Woods and I wanted to try and avoid becoming too familiar with Sand Point… So, I settled on the idea of taking in the Monk’s Steps.
