Planning the Cleveland Way

Having now booked a week off work, it’s pretty much official that I’ll be walking the Cleveland Way National Trail in June 2020.

In this post, I’ll be looking at my plans and daily itinerary for tackling the trail. With three months to go and this being a part of the country I’ve not previously explored, a lot could change between now and then!

Welcome to a brand-new year! I knew what most of my plans and intentions for 2020 would be while we were barely in to the second half of 2019.

Winter Wild Camping?

We’re officially in to November as I began to write this. October was a bit of a blur in my memory… The occasional dry day submerged beneath the rushing images of many-a downpour.

From here, it is a long way until we’re back in the seasons of T-shirt weather. I do struggle with the darkness, drop in temperature and reduced sunlight. I’d love to go away and spend a weekend camping but, for me personally, it isn’t the right time of year…

Instead, I’m thinking about the occasional wild camp as a way of getting out there and attempting to ’embrace’ the long winter nights! Continue reading “Winter Wild Camping?”

First Walk with the Montane Yupik 50

Seven-days before ahead of the start of my South Downs Way journey, I loaded up my new fifty litre rucksack and heading up in to the Mendip Hills for a day walk. This would be my first outing with the Montane Yupik 50. An opportunity to see it it really fits and how comfortable I would be, carrying my current load.
