#walk1000miles – February 2018

Suddenly, it’s March and the south-west of England has ground to a halt, thanks to a severe dusting of snow.

January, I felt was an overly long and grey month. With February, I was beginning to settle in to the new year. But now, it’s already March and I’m screaming for 2018 to slow down!

04/02 – 4.5 miles – Wrington
11/02 – 14.5 miles – Severn Way: Berkeley to Slimbridge
18/02 – 12 miles – Castle Combe (led by Brunel)
24/02 – 8.5 miles – Butcombe Reccy
25/02 – 9.25 miles – Axbridge to Crook Peak (walk leading)

Total for February 2018: 48.75 miles

Well, February is always a short month!

This time last year, I managed 68.25 miles. I’ve achieved almost twenty-miles less on this occasion but I’m still pleased to be hitting close to the half-century.

Another leg of the Severn Way long-distance path has been completed and you’ll be able to read about that soon. Along with the local solo walks, I did the ‘reccy’ of a route for an upcoming walk I’m going to lead and I have also led the group for the first time in 2018.

I’m looking forward to the beginnings of spring, sometime in March. Daylight hours are continuing to increase. Temperatures are slowly beginning to rise – in spite of the recent Siberian experience. Another leg of the Severn Way will soon follow. I may even embark on my first outing with the Long Distance Walkers Association, having joined them in January.

Current total for 2018: 111 miles

Thanks for reading.
