National Trust Visit: Kedleston Hall

Having spent the morning in and around Matlock Bath, I was looking to move on after lunch and in to the early afternoon.

I felt it was still too early to encounter the three-hour drive home and I instructed my SatNav to plot a course for Kedleston Hall; my sole National Trust visit of the weekend.

#walk1000miles – October 2017

Officially, I imagine we’re still in autumn. However, recent temperatures have suggested that winter isn’t very far away.

Then, there’s Daylight “Savings”… Where we actually lose an hour’s light in the evenings all because we live in a country that’s afraid of change (possibly). That alone will have an effect on my monthly miles.

Matlock Bath and the High Tor

By this time, I’d already packed away my tent and had left Chelmorton with the knowledge that I would soon be on the long drive home and the inevitable return to w**k the following day.

In order to break up the long drive and make something of my morning, I’d decided to explore Matlock Bath. I had a free parking space in mind and and hoped the experience might be as pleasant as my brief trip to Bakewell in 2015.

Hiking in the Dark Peak (Part 2)

I’d reached Losehill Farm, around 300m above sea level and gasping for my breath.

There was still another 200m or less before I would reach the summit of Lose Hill. Beyond that, I’d be following a ridge.
