According to my memory, it took us a good three hours to climb up and over Tryfan from the A5. A remarkable statistic, considering the direct journey to the top measures only half a mile or so.

We weren’t about to make an immediate return to the car, though. Onward, we strode towards the Glyderau.

Climbing Tryfan

This was to be the first of two mountain adventures in Snowdonia, over the course of our five days spent in North Wales. Not only would we be climbing Tryfan for the very first time but we’d then be scrambling our way up and on to the Glyders!

I’ve decided to save the Glyders for a separate post, where this will focus on the challenge of Tryfan.

Berwyn Mountains Walk

At the beginning of our long-weekend in North Wales, we’d all driven up the night before. Not wanting to waste one of our five days and, with many mountains explore, it was my suggestion to leave the cars alone on day one and do a local climb, from our accommodation in Llandrillo up in to the Berwyn mountain range.

Packing for The Ridgeway: Days 2 and 3

Hopefully you’ve already seen that I’m now two-thirds of the way along with my walk of The Ridgeway National Trail. Days two and three were tackled with a considerably lighter pack-load, as I would be staying overnight at a youth hostel in between.
