This was my first walk as part of a three-night getaway and camping trip down on Exmoor. I drove down in the morning – car fully loaded with my tent and all – somewhat ready to do this long and challenging walk before looking to pitch up near Winsford.

It was the beginning of Easter and I had the opportunity to go for a decent walk with a friend. Not entirely comfortable with the idea of restarting or resuming walks with groups of others, this seemed like a good opportunity to get out with company. Being an Easter weekend, I also decided we’d avoid the busiest areas, while staying fairly local to our homes.
Continue reading “Wedmore to Draycott Sleights”For the first time since lockdown had been thrust upon us, I made the ninety-minute drive down to Exmoor. A National Park I’d have spent more time exploring this year; but for the intervention of the pandemic.
Perhaps my biggest personal goal of this week away in Derbyshire was to explore Kinder Scout. Two years ago, I’d only made it as far north as Edale; some distance below the plateau, even though I enjoyable a memorable walk along The Great Ridge.
My goal of bagging the highest point in the Peak District was shared among the rest of the cottage and so, after a short drive to Edale, we were soon on our way.
