YouTube Update – 19/12/2017

I’d like to try and make this style of post a regular feature of my blog. Perhaps once a month, I can produce a ‘YouTube Update’, detailing all that I’ve uploaded within the previous thirty days. I’m sure that not every reading this is already subscribed to Olly Outdoors… Some may prefer not to keep a Google account.

With several walks around Wales over the past couple of months, I’ve been quite busy on the uploading front and I’m very, very close to achieving my one-hundredth subscriber!

Finding Bluebells

Wednesday 26th April 2017

It was in May last year that I discovered a pristine path of bluebells only a thirty-minute walk (uphill) from my front door.

Shared with the opinion of a friend, I’m convinced that bluebells have arrived early this year. More concerningly, they’ve already ‘peaked’ (at least, in my opinion).

I took the opportunity to spend some time there in an evening last week. There’s even a video I produced for YouTube and I’ll include a link to that at the bottom of this post.

A Fresh Start

Hello all!

I hope that some of you will have followed me over from Olly Writes which, through several names changes, has been my primary blog site since August 2009.

Here, at Olly Outdoors, I have a dedicated space to write solely about walking, camping and my outdoor adventures. With foundations in woodworking, I was finding my original blog to be extremely ‘diverse’ at times and I can appreciate that many long-term followers are not necessarily interested in the hiking content.

At the time of creating my first post, it has to be said that a lot of work is still to be done on this site, regardless of the many hours of writing that will surely follow. Please bear with me as I attempt to create the appearance I’m looking for. Down the line, I will upgrade from my free package to remove those irrelevant adverts (in the mean time, please try equipping your browser with free ad-blocking software).

One long-term goal is to create a database of my favourite walking routes. These will mostly fit within the North Somerset/Mendip Hills region, close to where I live and have grown up. Distances will range from, say, six-miles up to sixteen and beyond! I’m yet to decide on how to share these routes but I would like to also be able to share .GPX files in time. All thoughts and feedback would be appreciated.

I’ll continue to post detailed write-ups of each walk on the main page, while the ‘Routes’ section will allow instant access to the details for all visitors.

I think that’s all I have to say right now.

Thanks for reading! Please follow and subscribe.
