My first ever walk on the Polden Hills in Somerset and exploring the length of the Polden Way.

I was born in Bristol and have grown up in North Somerset. Since 2012, I’ve been roaming the Mendip Hills along with other parts of Somerset. But I’d not previously been down to the Polden Hills… On the Somerset Levels, just south of Street and Glastonbury.

Monthly Miles: October 2020

Reviewing my miles and walks from October 2020.

I find it surprising to think back to where we were six months ago. Still in the grip of a proper Lockdown (unlike the current model) yet with certain restrictions easing, while some (myself included) made a steady return to work.

Yet this time in between has passed. That is significant. Much uncertainty may remain, as we attempt to look forwards. But recognising that time can and will pass is very important, in my opinion.

Christon, Loxton and Bleadon Hill

Monday 20th July 2020

I remember this as being one of those Mondays (I work Saturdays and get Mondays off) where I was in two minds about going out for a walk. It was sometime in the mid-afternoon before I finally left home and drove out to Christon, a small village between Bleadon Hill and Crook Peak.

This was not one of my own routes but one I found within the excellent series of Beyond Bristol books.
