It’s been a month since I last wrote about my mileage (for June) and now it’s time to write about July! I feel bad in realising that I haven’t written on this blog in between these points… Looking at the list below, I can already see two walks that I’d like to write about. I just need to commit to it.

Lockdown Walk: Wick St. Lawrence
Sunday 5th April 2020
Another walk in Lockdown and this one took place ahead of the Sand Point walk I wrote about previously. Wick St. Lawrence is a small village and parish on the outskirts of Weston-super-Mare and a stone’s throw from where I currently live. I hadn’t explored all of the area and knew of a series of (potentially inaccessible) footpaths close that would be the feature of this morning’s outing.
Lockdown Walk: Sand Point from Home
Friday 10th April 2020
We were barely one week in to what has become known as Lockdown in the UK and I feel bad that it’s taken me this long to write about it. This was my first ‘proper’ walk during the Covid-19/Coronavirus pandemic, where I would otherwise spend my evenings walking short circuits around my very local area.
At the time, there was no specified limit on how far one could travel during exercise or how long we could exercise for. Social distancing rules applied but we were not allowed to travel for the purpose of walking, running or cycling, as three examples.
Monthly Miles: April 2020
April was our first full month in Lockdown and, for the UK, it may prove to be our only month, if the speculation is to be believed right now. I’ve been ‘furloughed’ (off work and in receipt of 80% of my basic wage) all throughout but have managed to keep myself relatively active. Flat walks and short distances from my doorstep, where the hills are hard to find.
