#walk1000miles – November 2018

Going in to November, there was a chance that I would be able to break the one-thousand mile mark before the arrival of 2018’s final month… With an amount of time on my hands and a long-weekend trip to Dartmoor due, this opportunity was very strong indeed.

Following the Coleridge Way from Holford in Somerset.

Need I remind you – as I do every month – that I have NOT been trying to walk the thousand miles this year!!

In November 2017, I managed to walk 78.5 miles. Here, I felt confident that I would exceed 80 miles for the month…

On the Severn Way, just north of Gloucester.

02/11 – 4.5 miles – Wrington, North Somerset
03/11 – 14.5 miles – Severn Way: Elmore, Gloucestershire
05/11 – 6 miles – Wrington
08/11 – 2 miles – Wrington
10/11 – 11.75 miles – Quantock Hills, Somerset
11/11 – 3.25 miles – Brean Down, Somerset
12/11 – 4.5 miles – Wrington
15/11 – 7.25 miles – Cadbury Camp, North Somerset
17/11 – 7.5 miles – Oakhill, Somerset
20/11 – 10 miles – Black Down to Cheddar Gorge
21/11 – 4.25 miles – Wrington
24/11 – 12.75 miles – Severn Way: Gloucester
26/11 – 10 miles – Priddy to Ebbor Gorge
29/11 – 4 miles – Sourton Tors, Dartmoor
30/11 – 11.5 miles – iSpy Dartmoor (Okehampton)

Total for November 2018 = 113.75 miles

So, I’ve walked considerably more miles than what I did for the same time period last year! Getting back on track with the Severn Way walk has helped this, along with an end-of-the-month journey to Dartmoor with the walking group.

Roaming northern Dartmoor with Brunel Walking Group.

I’d been working almost as self-employed since early September and the irregularity of my working hours allowed me much freedom to roam the local countryside and to maintain a physically active way to my  numerous quiet days.

One of many tors bagged over the past weekend!

That luxury has ended with November, as I’m now back in to full-time employment for the foreseeable future.

Current total for 2018 = 1,012 miles

So, for the second consecutive year, I’ve completed the challenge one-month early!

…A challenge that I had not set-out to complete at the start of 2018! My aim was simply to track my average mileage, with an estimate that I’d end the year with a figure between 600 and 800 miles. I guess I got a bit carried away, walking The Ridgeway and with other things!

I also have a great annual mileage, compared with this same point one year ago!

Thanks for reading.
