Month in Review: August 2021

As we approach the end of September, this might be an important time to write about August’s walks, before those lingering memories are forgotten!

For only the second time in 2021, I had made the journey across the border and on to Wales for a walk in the Brecon Beacons. This walk would be almost-completed new to me; a twelve-mile circuit following a route commonly known as Bwlch With Altitude… Then, adding an extra hill an ascent before the end.

In a year that has deprived many of us from so much, I can say that I have only made the journey over to Wales for a walk just the one time. Now that Wales is in its own state of lockdown (for the third time this year), I won’t be crossing the Severn again until sometime in 2021 (fingers crossed).

I do miss the Brecon Beacons. Snowdonia. The Black Mountains and all those miles of the Wales Coast Path I’ve still yet to follow. I’d been up Sugar Loaf several times before but I thought it might be good to write about this most recent outing, as I got to share it with two friends who were new to the almost-mountain.

Here we are now, officially in a ‘Lockdown’ situation in the UK. While I have this time on my hands, I thought I pay a bit more attention to my blog and write about one of my most memorable walks from 2019, which took place towards the end of the year.
