Camping in August: Thoughts

It’s summer! We’ve had ‘unseasonally’ warm weather and it’s a good time to think about camping – if you enjoy that kind of experience and haven’t already got plans under way.

I don’t normally intend to plan a camping trip for August but this year I’ll be heading to the Peak District for a long weekend. Without going in to that though, I’d like to share some of my considerations on camping at this time of year.

Sugar Loaf (Part 2)

Saturday 29th April 2017

Beyond the halfway point in my first exploration of Sugar Loaf mountain hill, I’d reached the hamlet of Llangenny and was looking for a place to stop for lunch.

I’d hoped to stop somewhere near to Millbrook Bridge, beneath this towering old tree. But there were already a couple of people paddling in the river beneath me and I was craving something more in the way of solitude.
