The (Not So) Long Mynd

Our weekend away in Snowdonia was drawing to a close, along with the end of May Bank Holiday weekend. A small number of group members were determined to tackle the three-and-a-half hour drive home ASAP. My suggestion, was to divide the journey with a walk along the way.

So, we crossed the border and arrived at Church Stretton in Shropshire; ninety-minutes down and now only two-hours from home. But first, eight-miles of hiking!

Planning The Ridgeway: Accommodation

This is something I’ve not written about for a while but I do still hold on to an interest in walking the entire eighty-seven mile length of The Ridgeway long-distance footpath.

September has always seemed to be an ideal time of year – not too hot and hopefully, we’ve already received enough rain in August to have earned a dry month… If I’ve been procrastinating on one thing, it’s been the planning. In an ideal world, I’d be sat here, ready to start writing up a walk I did last weekend in the Peak District… But with little time for blogging in this thing called LIFE, I’m going to take you back to a weekend at the end of May.

Camping away with Brunel Walking Group, this was our second full day in Snowdonia, ahead of a final night’s sleep and long drive home to follow. I think it was only a ten-minute drive from the camp site but the majority of the group set off to climb Cadair Idris.
