Waking up in the youth hostel of Streatley-on-Thames, I was downstairs in the restaurant at 8am (a time arranged the evening before) and ready for the full-English breakfast that would fuel me on for another fifteen miles of following The Ridgeway National Trail.

Uffington White Horse

A walk centred around the Uffington White Horse in Oxfordshire. We tackled this one after completing the White Horse Trail around Wiltshire.

As if it wasn’t enough to have visited all of the Wiltshire White Horses across 2017, Jo had one more in store for us, just over the border in Oxfordshire.

We drove east along the M4 motorway, one last time. Departing for Swindon East, to later arrive the the pay-and-display car park (free for National Trust members) at White Horse Hill.

White Horse Trail – Walk 4 of 7 (Part 1)

My fourth walk in a series to complete the 90-mile long White Horse Trail around Wiltshire. In Part 1, I leave Pewsey Downs to trek off in search of the Pewsey White Horse.

This was my second catch-up walk in the series, which I would go on to walk alone because the original date on the calendar clashed with this year’s Mendip Challenge event.

It was to start at a free car park at Pewsey Downs, a few miles south of Avebury in Wiltshire. Forecast to be around eighteen miles in length.
