Coleridge Way: Walk #1

The first walk in a series following the 51 mile long Coleridge Way across Somerset, with my friend Anna.

It’s probably been a year since we first talked about walking the Coleridge Way. My friend Anna has been keen on completing this fifty-one mile route across West Somerset. Together, we’d previously completed the entire Somerset Coast Path and this was going to be our next adventure.

Walking the Castles and Coast Way

Monday 3rd May 2021

This was the first weekend in May where I had the idea of driving down to Exmoor for a full day’s walking. But the weather forecast looked grim – and it has barely improved as the weeks have passed. I was sizing up the Quantock Hills, when I spotted the Castles and Coast Way marked on the latest OS Map.

It was time to explore this thirteen-mile long Way, walking between the Quantock Hills and the West Somerset coast.

Plans for 2021?

Identifying achieveable plans for the remainder of 2021, post-lockdown.

By the time you read this, England should be free from the shackles of its third Lockdown. Some restrictions will remain. But we’ll also have slightly more freedom to meet with others and explore. I feel as though planning (dare I say it) for the rest of the year may be a feasible thought.

In January, I wrote of my Intentions for 2021 and I recently made a YouTube video talking briefly of my three ideas. This will be a more refined edition of the other post and I’ve narrowed it down to three particular goals.

Exmoor and Dunkery Beacon (February 2019)

I’m sure I’ll have written previously that I don’t walk on Exmoor often enough. In 2018, I can only think of two occasions where I visited this quite local National Park and each of those days was with Brunel Walking Group.

Here we are in only the second month of 2019 and I’ve recently complete my second walk on Exmoor for the year!
