Cleveland Way: My Daily Itinerary

Where I stayed and how far I walked for each of my 7 days following the 109 mile long Cleveland Way.

Last week, I completed a 109-mile journey along the Cleveland Way in Yorkshire. From the market town of Helmsley, across the North York Moors and then along the beautiful coastline of East Yorkshire, to the end point at Filey.

It was time to explore this thirteen-mile long Way, walking between the Quantock Hills and the West Somerset coast.

I had everything planned for this walk a couple of years ago and I was able to drive to the Chesil Beach car park – alongside the causeway linking Portland with Weymouth and the mainland – without the need for GPS.

West Somerset Coastal Walk: January 2019

Saturday 12th January 2019

A few years ago, I walked the entire length of the West Somerset Coast Path (which also forms a completed portion of the England Coast Path) with my friend Anna. I’d been meaning to return and revisit a couple of areas but was mainly put off by the inability to plot an appealing circular route that would avoid the many roads.

Well, tarmac or not, I was prepared to revisit this lesser-travelled stretch of coast on a particularly windy day, one weekend at the beginning of 2019.
