With the arrival of September, our thoughts often turn to that of autumn, a chill in the air and the final passing of a summer that probably wasn’t as wet or miserable as we might choose to remember.

Brown Knoll and Rushup Edge
Friday 26th July 2019
It would be our final full day in the Peak District, six-days after we’d arrived. There was no group consensus over what to do; we each ventured off to our own accord.
My only thought was to get another walk in. I didn’t fancy driving anywhere and decided to leave the car alone… From our holiday base in Sparrowpit near Dove Holes, I’d be heading up on to the Dark Peak.

This would be only my second ever walk in the Blackdown Hills AoNB. Both walks have been events led and created by Brunel Walking Group, where I have simply followed along and observed… Even though I probably live closer to this portion of Somerset than ninety-nine per cent of our club’s membership!
A chance to bag a trig, reach the highest point and explore paths that I would otherwise ignore. I made the drive down solo, straight from my home in Weston-super-Mare.
