Brown Knoll and Rushup Edge

Friday 26th July 2019

It would be our final full day in the Peak District, six-days after we’d arrived. There was no group consensus over what to do; we each ventured off to our own accord.

My only thought was to get another walk in. I didn’t fancy driving anywhere and decided to leave the car alone… From our holiday base in Sparrowpit near Dove Holes, I’d be heading up on to the Dark Peak.

Kinder Scout and the Pennine Way

Tuesday 23rd July 2019

Perhaps my biggest personal goal of this week away in Derbyshire was to explore Kinder Scout. Two years ago, I’d only made it as far north as Edale; some distance below the plateau, even though I enjoyable a memorable walk along The Great Ridge.

Hiking in the Dark Peak (Part 1)

Part 1 of my first walk in the ‘Dark Peak’ portion of the Peak District. A major highlight of my long weekend away.

To be concluded in Part 2.

Monday 14th August 2017

This is yet another Peak District walk with the route taken from The Walking Englishman. I’d like to say that the entire walk resides within the Dark Peak portion of the National Park but, I’m not sure where it ends and the White Peak begins… Even Google can’t provide a consistent answer.

Regardless; a small portion of this walk passes through Edale, making it my first ever walk in Dark Peak of Derbyshire.
