Walking the Castles and Coast Way
Walking the 13 mile long Castles and Coast Way in West Somerset. A new circular footpath, created in 2019.
Monday 3rd May 2021
This was the first weekend in May where I had the idea of driving down to Exmoor for a full day’s walking. But the weather forecast looked grim – and it has barely improved as the weeks have passed. I was sizing up the Quantock Hills, when I spotted the ‘Castles and Coast Way‘ marked on the latest OS Map.
It was time to explore this thirteen-mile long Way, walking between the Quantock Hills and the West Somerset coast.

Sunday 1st September 2019
This was it. Some two years after I started officially walking the Severn Way, I was due to complete my personal journey from Bristol to Tewkesbury.
I left my car outside of the village hall in Apperley and set off walking in search of the River Severn.
Severn Way: Elmore, Gloucestershire
Saturday 3rd November 2018
My previous walk of making progress in my walk along the Severn Way was all the way back in April, would you believe! I’d never intended to leave it this long in between. A ‘busy’ summer played its part in that.
So far, I’ve followed the trail north from Bristol and, at the time of writing, I’m about to enter Gloucester in my next walk. Beyond that, I’m only looking to trek as far as Tewkesbury, while the Severn Way continues for another 150 miles or more.
