This walk was the main reason for which I chose my particular campsite just off of Winsford Hill on Exmoor. It was to be a repeat of a walk I did with two friends back in January 2019.

Much smaller than its fifty-five mile cousin, this one is only nine miles in length and can be completed in a single day.
Trev, from the YouTube channel Summit of Nothing, had organised this event as his second in a series of fundraising walks, looking ahead to a Himalayan trek he’s embarking on in 2020. She’s hate me for saying this but it had been four-years since Anna and I started our walk of the ‘Somerset Coast Path’ in the centre of Bristol. Officially, it is not a trail but does follow the coastline of Somerset as close as is legally practicable.
One walk remained. Picking up from where we left off in 2016, we’d be walking from Porlock Weir to Lynton along the South West Coast Path.
It was officially Day Two in Brunel Walking Group’s “Christmas” away weekend on Dartmoor. A second series of walks were available to choose from, ranging from long to short and I settled up on the one in the middle; said to be around 11.5 miles in length and not an unreasonable choice, given that it was forecast to be wet and windy for much of the day.
