Continue reading “Portskewett, South Wales”Revisiting a guided walk around Lansdown near Bath, which I hadn’t followed since 2014. Would all public rights of way remain open and accessible?
My first walk of the month that was October would see me return to Lansdown, an area that lies to the north-west of Bath. It was probably more than three-years since I last did this exact walk and, back then, I was leading a group of more than a dozen people.
This is probably one of the first routes I followed from the Walk West series of eBooks and it’s a walk that I’d been meaning to return to for some time. A vision of road walking had stuck in my mind, along with ambition, I guess, to walk in a wide variety of places; near and far from home.
A North Somerset through Kewstoke, out to Middle Hope and crossing Sand Bay before returning.
Sand Bay and Sand Point are areas I’ll visit and explore every few months. I can drive there in less than thirty-minutes and, while they’re both within close proximity of Weston-super-Mud, you can guarantee these spaces will never be quite as busy – even on a busy day.
Most of my walks have started from the same two car parks. But I was intrigued enough to try a different route published in the first of three Walk West eBooks.
This walk began in Priddy; an area I know quite well and love to explore, for the fact it’s typically one of the lesser-populated sections of the Mendip Hills on a typical sunny Saturday.
In the company of a friend, we were following a route from the first Walk West eBook. I’ve walked similar routes a number of times but I also wanted to tick this one off and share the experience.
