Three Peaks Walk: Clutton Completion

Completing the 16.5 mile long Somerset Three Peaks Walk; following a previously unexplored section around Clutton.

In north-east Somerset, there’s a lesser-known sixteen-mile circular trail known as the Three Peaks Walk. It bears no relation to the national challenge and there is no time limit in which to walk the full distance.

I’d previously followed the way around Pensford, Dundry and the Chew Valley several times. But there were a few miles near Clutton that I’d never walked and that was my intention for this outing.

#walk1000miles – October 2017

Officially, I imagine we’re still in autumn. However, recent temperatures have suggested that winter isn’t very far away.

Then, there’s Daylight “Savings”… Where we actually lose an hour’s light in the evenings all because we live in a country that’s afraid of change (possibly). That alone will have an effect on my monthly miles.

I’d reached Losehill Farm, around 300m above sea level and gasping for my breath.

There was still another 200m or less before I would reach the summit of Lose Hill. Beyond that, I’d be following a ridge.

Hiking in the Dark Peak (Part 1)

Part 1 of my first walk in the ‘Dark Peak’ portion of the Peak District. A major highlight of my long weekend away.

This is yet another Peak District walk with the route taken from The Walking Englishman. I’d like to say that the entire walk resides within the Dark Peak portion of the National Park but, I’m not sure where it ends and the White Peak begins… Even Google can’t provide a consistent answer.

Regardless; a small portion of this walk passes through Edale, making it my first ever walk in Dark Peak of Derbyshire.
