Old Man of Coniston

Tuesday 13th September 2022

My first ever walk in the Lake District! I’d skipped the chance to climb Scafell Pike on Monday, as the weather was abysmal and it was more than an hour’s drive from the campsite. But Coniston was only twenty-five minutes north of where I was staying. I hadn’t ranked the Old Man too highly on my to-do list but it would be very convenient and probably worth doing.

To the Lake District

It won’t be long now before I begin the long drive up in to the north-west of England. In all my ten years of walking, I’ve never once set foot in the Lake District proper (unless you count a stop at Tebay services on the way up to Scotland back in June…). This trip could be interoperated as a bit of a celebration for my decade of hiking around the UK.

Plans for 2021?

Identifying achieveable plans for the remainder of 2021, post-lockdown.

By the time you read this, England should be free from the shackles of its third Lockdown. Some restrictions will remain. But we’ll also have slightly more freedom to meet with others and explore. I feel as though planning (dare I say it) for the rest of the year may be a feasible thought.

In January, I wrote of my Intentions for 2021 and I recently made a YouTube video talking briefly of my three ideas. This will be a more refined edition of the other post and I’ve narrowed it down to three particular goals.

Welcome to a brand-new year! I knew what most of my plans and intentions for 2020 would be while we were barely in to the second half of 2019.
