The Essence of the Forest

Sunday 6th February 2022

I’d only once previously been to the Forest of Dean and that was an enjoyable Go Ape experience, which I’d recommend to anyone. People often rave about the location but I’d never done a proper walk around it. Contrary to my previous believe, Wentwood sits outside of the boundary.

For the second time in 2022, I drove across the Severn Bridge and to a part of Gloucestershire not too far from the border with Wales.

Wentwood and Gray Hill

Sunday 23rd January 2022

A few years ago, I challenged myself with the quiet intention of completing more of the walks available in the Walk West series of eBooks (all of which are free to download from this website). Kewstoke and Middle Hope

A North Somerset through Kewstoke, out to Middle Hope and crossing Sand Bay before returning.

Saturday 20th May 2017

Sand Bay and Sand Point are areas I’ll visit and explore every few months. I can drive there in less than thirty-minutes and, while they’re both within close proximity of Weston-super-Mud, you can guarantee these spaces will never be quite as busy – even on a busy day.

Most of my walks have started from the same two car parks. But I was intrigued enough to try a different route published in the first of three Walk West eBooks.
